Relay Info
8 Mile Two Person Relay:
The Stowe 8 Miler is a classic summer race now in its 31st year. For years Vermonters and runners from all over New England and Canada have come to Stowe for this festive event. New for 2012 is the addition of the two person relay comprising of a three and five mile leg.

Two Person Relay: Two people can enter the relay as a team. They can be both male, or both female or co-ed. Serious and fun teams are all encouraged.
Relay Info: The relay starts and finishes in the same location as the 8 mile race. The relay starts with the regular 8 mile race at 9:00 AM.
Relay Legs: There is a 3 mile leg and a 5 mile leg. (The actual distance is about 2.9 and 5.1. Your team will receive a final combined time.
Relay Transition: The first person in the relay hands off a batton just before mile 3 at the Stowe High School. The second person carrys the batton to the finish.
Relay Members Transportation: It is the responsibility of each relay member to provide transportation to the transition area. We highly reccomend using a bike or car pooling.
Help make our relay GREEN: Bring a bike to the race and have your first person bike to the relay transition area. Then your second person can bike BACK the 3 miles to the finish. There are awesome bike paths you can use to do this for 2 .5 miles of the 3 miles with only one road crossing. Biking back at a leisurely 12 mpg will still get you back to the finish to see your relay partner's finishing kick.
All second leg relay members will be encouraged to leave for the transition zone by 8:40 AM.

The famous after race party with Smuttynose crafted beer and ice cream is at the Ye Olde England Inne where both of you can join in all the fun.
IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU DRIVE to the transition zone we may restrict you from exiting the High School Parking lot until the bulk of the runners have passed safely by the exit. Bikes may be allowed to leave earlier.
