What is the course like?
(Course Map)
Our course starts at the classy Hampton Beach Hotel Ashworth by
the Sea. The start is direcly across from Hampton beach but, before
you start - plunge into the cool ocean water at Hampton Beach
Park It has a wide sandy beach with bathhouse, showers and lifeguards,
* summer only along with blocks of attractions, restaurants, and
hotels.
Next you will travel north on Ocean Boulevard. After a refreshing loop of Hampton rural roads and neighborhoods it takes fairly flat and rolling course into the small but picturesque town of North Hampton. First settled in 1639, this town was a part of Hampton known as "North Hill" or "North Parish."following separation of New Hampshire from Massachusetts. Just off of the course are Fuller Gardens where you can enjoy two acres of formal flower gardens (hundreds of tulips and 2,000 rose bushes) at a turn-of-the-century estate. (might be covered in snow- this time of year)
This is a "loop" course where the top of the loop eventually ends back up on Rt. 1A before mile 9 on the most scenic Atlantic Ocean roads on the rocky New Hampshire coast. Enjoy unobstructed views of the Ocean first, the rocky ocean cliffs at Llittle Boars Head, a seaside promontory, that became a fashionable summer resort in the 19th century, and contains elegant examples of Victorian and Edwardian architecture. On you will travel past North Hampton State Beach where locals often find a quieter place and you might see hardy soles riding the waves. North Beach also has a sandy beach, bathhouse and lifeguards. Right on the water’s edge, the park offers beautiful gardens and places to spread out for a picnic or nap.
On your way south, you have just traveled the so-called “two-mile drive” It’s said to be the most spectacular ocean-side drive on the East Coast. On the left, nothing but ocean, on the right, expansive beautiful homes. Finally you come back to Hampton Beach to the finish at the Ashworth by the Sea and the well deserved after-race party.
Restroom facilities: For your conveniance, there will be bathroom facilities on the course, location mile 6 water stop and mile 11 water stop -at the North Hampton State Park Beachh Bathrooms.

NEW Race Hats.

Watching the race: Spectators are welcome to
come to the start/finish area to cheer on the runners.
Driving would let you see them in a few more places but we discourage
that as with 900 runners on the road you may simply be stuck in
traffic.
WILL THE RACE ENTRIES BE CAPPED?
For the safety of our race participants, the entry numbers will
be capped to control the numbers at the Half Marathon starting
lines. We would love to be able to let everyone in, but safety
requires that we limit the field. The number of participants for
2008 is capped at 1,000 for the half Marathon
HOW DO I REGISTER?
You can register for all events online on our page, see the registration
link. OR, Register by mail using our PDF Entry form and mail it
to: Maine Coast Half, C/O LOCO Sports, PO Box 423, Newmarket,
NH

encourage you to pick your packet up Sunday (8:00 am - 10:30 AM)
before the event.
WHERE IS THE START & FINISH
The start and finish is in front of the Ashworth by the Sea Hotel
on Ocean Boulevard in Hampton Beach.
Where is the early number pickup? At the present time, we plan to have number pickup on race morning only. However, we may add other times, stay tuned to the web site and email updates.
WILL THERE BE A BAG CHECK SO THAT I CAN RETRIEVE MY BAG
AT THE FINISH?
For the Half Marathon will have a bag check/retrieval. We'll do
the best job we can to see that your bag is safely returned to
you at the finish line. However, we strongly suggest that you
bring nothing breakable or valuable with you to the start of either
race. We are not responsible for anything that you check as we
have 1000 bags to move in only a short time. Small bags would
be appreciated.
WHERE CAN I STAY IN OR NEAR THE RACE? Right at
the Ashworth of course or there are several wonderful places to
stay right in town or along the ocean and surrounding towns, see
our lodging page!
